Inaugural Makkah Accord strategic committee meeting held in Istanbul

Turkey, Saudi Arabia, and Pakistan held the first high-level meeting of the Makkah Joint Defense Agreement's strategic committee in Istanbul on Aug. 31. Attendees included foreign and defense ministers and military chiefs. Pakistan says six to seven other Muslim countries want to join the pact.
