SEC ramps up scrutiny of SPVs claiming private company exposure, asks RIAs to prove share access

The SEC is asking registered investment advisers to verify that their special purpose vehicles (SPVs) actually hold or have access to the private-company shares they claim to offer. The move targets SPVs used to provide exposure to private companies, per a Wall Street Journal report.
