The Bank of England detailed its quantitative tightening unwind plan, announcing it will hold £222 billion of gilts maturing before 2035 to maturity and £120 billion of long-dated gilts (2049-2071) to maturity to back bank notes. Active annual gilt sales will be £20 billion, alongside maturing gilts. The long-dated holdings are no longer for monetary policy and will be replaced as they mature.
