Strait of Hormuz ship crossings fall to 5 per day, tanker rates hit record

Commodity ship crossings through the Strait of Hormuz dropped to five per day over the weekend. Tanker freight rates surged to record highs as the U.S.-Iran war restricts traffic. The benchmark Middle East Gulf-Japan LR2 rate hit $107.72 per metric ton on Aug. 27.
