US companies have raised €149 billion ($173 billion) in European bonds so far in 2026, the second-highest annual total on record. At the current pace, the full-year figure is projected to reach a record €225 billion ($261 billion), roughly double the totals seen in 2022 and 2023. Heavy AI-related borrowing from Big Tech has crowded the US dollar bond market, pushing other issuers to seek cheaper euro-denominated debt.
