Union Pacific (UNP) announced the arrival of the first two of four FLXdrive battery-electric locomotives, built by Wabtec, for testing in the Greater Los Angeles area. The units produce zero tailpipe emissions with 2.7 MWh storage each. Two additional locomotives are expected in October.
