Parallax, a California startup, raised $117 million to develop 3D-printed gas turbines for on-site data center power. The company aims to bypass multiyear backlogs at traditional turbine makers by using additive manufacturing to simplify the turbine core from over 2,000 parts to a handful. A prototype is planned by year-end 2026, with testing in 2027 and customer deliveries in 2028.
Parallax founded in 2026 by Stanford graduate Carl Schoeller, previously co-founded a defense hardware company.
Raised $117 million from Eclipse, Lux Capital, Founders Fund, Greylock, General Catalyst.
Aims to make 10 MW gas turbines using 3D printing to reduce parts from 2,000 to a handful.
Uses cheaper materials and lower combustion temperatures, sacrificing fuel efficiency for faster manufacturing.
Prototype by year-end 2026, testing in 2027, customer deliveries in 2028.
Multiple units needed per data center site.
