HII announced its Newport News Shipbuilding division achieved preliminary acceptance of the second Ford-class carrier, John F. Kennedy (CVN 79). The Navy can now begin underway test and evaluation. The carrier departed for Naval Station Norfolk after completing acceptance trials in August.
