GlobalFoundries to build two New York chip plants in $21 billion deal

GlobalFoundries will build two semiconductor manufacturing facilities in Malta, New York, funded by $21 billion in Japanese capital. The project is expected to create 27,000 construction and supply-chain jobs and 1,000 manufacturing jobs. The U.S. government will receive equity in GlobalFoundries, valued at over $2 billion.
