- Modeling study presented at ACG 2026
- Shield averted 12 CRC deaths per 1,000 vs 6 for FIT and 9 for mt-sDNA
- Real-world adherence 99% in two rural South Carolina clinics
- Shield is FDA-approved as primary screening for average-risk adults 45+
- Over 200,000 Shield tests performed in real-world settings
- Guardant Health presented two sets of data at the ACG 2026 Annual Meeting. A modeling study compared blood-based Shield testing to stool-based FIT and mt-sDNA over a lifetime for individuals aged 45-75. Using real-world follow-up colonoscopy adherence rates, Shield led to 679 colonoscopies per 1,000 individuals (vs 113 for FIT, 326 for mt-sDNA) and averted 12 CRC deaths (vs 6 and 9). Separately, a clinical implementation study in two rural South Carolina clinics showed 99% real-world adherence to Shield screening, far exceeding typical CRC screening rates of 28-71%.
