Fed holds steady, but top CD rates climb as banks raise yields

CD Valet data shows 1,044 CD rate increases this week versus 91 decreases, lifting the median to 3.30%. More than 7,200 CDs now pay at least 4.00% APY, and top 12- and 24-month rates rose to 4.50% APY. Nearly half of tracked CDs are promotional specials that can reprice quickly.
