FTI Consulting is laying off about 4% of its workforce as part of a plan to align staffing with demand. The company disclosed the cuts in a Friday SEC filing, after signaling the reduction in its Thursday earnings release. FTI had more than 8,200 employees before the layoffs began. The company recorded a $45.5 million charge related to salary and benefits and expects another roughly $2 million in the fourth quarter. It also recorded about $500,000 in real estate costs and expects another roughly $5 million in the fourth quarter. FTI expects the actions to generate annualized cost savings of around $80 million.
