South Korea plans to tokenize stocks, bonds, funds starting February 2027

South Korea is preparing a three-stage plan to put traditional stocks, bonds, and funds onchain beginning February 2027. The first stage covers private funds, bonds, unlisted stocks, and fractional securities. The second expands to publicly offered securities. The third moves to stablecoin-based near-instant settlement. Existing brokers won't need new licenses. Koscom has signed 12 securities firms onto its tokenization platform. The stablecoin framework still needs to be finalized.
