NiSource and Microsoft sign 20-year energy agreement for Indiana data center campus

NiSource (NI) announced a long-term energy agreement with Microsoft for its northwest Indiana data center. The 20-year deal starting in 2028 adds ~1,100 MW of generation and 600 MW of battery storage. Total expected savings for existing NIPSCO electric customers rises to ~$1.75 billion, or up to $140 per customer annually. Microsoft fully funds all generation and transmission required for its load. The structure is designed to protect existing ratepayers from incremental costs.
